The Colosseum ("we," "us," "our") is a live audio debate and opinion platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding your data.
By using The Colosseum, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

The Colosseum uses artificial intelligence to generate certain content on the platform, including:
AI-generated content is produced using third-party AI services (currently Groq). Your debate messages during AI Sparring sessions are sent to these services to generate responses. These third-party services process your messages according to their own privacy policies.
Auto-debates are entirely AI-generated and do not contain or derive from any individual user's personal information.
Public by design: Your display name, debate history, win/loss record, Elo rating, level, and public profile information are visible to all users. Hot takes, debate messages, and votes are visible to other platform users. This is core to how the platform functions.
Aggregated and de-identified analytics: We may share aggregated, de-identified data about platform trends, opinion patterns, debate outcomes, and sentiment analysis with third parties, including research organizations, media companies, and commercial partners. This data does not identify individual users. It reflects collective patterns across topics, categories, and demographics — not individual behavior.
Service providers: We use third-party services to operate the platform, including hosting (Vercel, Cloudflare), database (Supabase), authentication, email delivery (Resend), payment processing (Stripe), and AI services (Groq). These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it.
Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, subpoena, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
Business transfers: If The Colosseum is acquired, merged, or sells assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify users before their information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not sell your personal information as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). The aggregated analytics described above are de-identified and do not constitute a "sale" of personal information under applicable law.
We retain your account information and user content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will mark it for deletion and remove your profile from public view. Some information may be retained in our systems for a reasonable period for legal compliance, dispute resolution, and enforcement of our agreements.
Aggregated, de-identified analytics data is retained indefinitely as it does not identify individual users.
Platform logs and security-related data are retained for up to 12 months.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
To exercise these rights, contact us at the email address listed below. We will respond within 30 days (or sooner if required by your jurisdiction's laws).
California residents: Under the CCPA, you have additional rights including the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. As noted above, we do not sell personal information.
The Colosseum is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Our signup process includes an age verification step, and users who indicate they are under 13 are not permitted to create accounts.
If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
Users between the ages of 13 and 17 may use the platform. We encourage parents and guardians to monitor their children's online activity.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information.
We use essential cookies and browser storage for authentication and session management. These are required for the platform to function and cannot be disabled.
We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy and provide appropriate notice and controls.
The Colosseum is operated from the United States. If you access the platform from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction. By using the platform, you consent to this transfer.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the effective date below. Your continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
